Step by step: how to register for the NMT 2026 and get your invite.

Registration for the NMT 2026 opens on 5 March and runs until 2 April. You have less than a month to create a personal account, upload your documents and choose your fourth subject. Miss the deadline and there will be no way to register for the main session.
In 2025, 312,490 people registered for the main NMT session — 8.6% more than in 2024 (UCEQA). And more than 4,500 registrations were rejected because of uncorrected errors in the documents. Every year thousands of people miss the deadline or make mistakes — and then panic, call the hotline and look for a way out.
This guide brings the instructions together in one place, based on the official UCEQA webinar of 4 March 2026. All the steps, documents, deadlines and typical mistakes. Read it, register, take the test.
TL;DR: Registration for the NMT 2026 runs from 5 March to 2 April at testportal.gov.ua. You need your passport, tax number and education document. The whole process takes 15–20 minutes. In 2025, 312,490 people registered and more than 4,500 were rejected (UCEQA). Do not leave it to the last day.
Before you go to testportal.gov.ua, get everything ready in advance. According to the UCEQA, the most common reason for a rejected registration is poor-quality document scans or incomplete details. The whole process takes 15–20 minutes if the documents are to hand.

If you are a 2026 school leaver and use Diia, a good deal of the information will be filled in automatically. That genuinely saves time.
Not sure which subject to choose? Read our guide to choosing your fourth NMT subject 2026.
The personal account is the only channel of communication between you and the UCEQA. There will be no text messages or emails. All the messages, invitations and results are there and nowhere else.
Important: write down your login and password. Lose access to your account and you lose your line to the UCEQA. Recovery takes time you may not have before the deadline.
If you have registered before (for the EIT or the NMT in earlier years), the account already exists. Just log in with your old details.
In our experience, testportal.gov.ua runs more slowly in the final days of registration because of the load. Do not wait for 2 April — do it in the first week.
Once you have logged in, the system asks you to fill in a form. Accuracy matters here — an error in your surname or date of birth can lead to a rejection.
Check every field twice. The regional assessment centre will verify these details — and if something does not match your documents, the registration is rejected.
A tip for Diia users: if you have a verified account in the Diia app, some of the details (tax number, passport data) may be filled in automatically. That reduces the risk of an error.
This is one of the most important steps. The fourth subject directly affects where you will be able to apply. Under the NMT 2026 structure, the test consists of 4 subjects: Ukrainian language, mathematics, history of Ukraine + one elective subject.
The choice depends on the specialties you are planning to apply to. Every specialty has its own subject coefficients — and the right choice of fourth subject can raise your competitive score substantially.
More on the coefficients in the table of NMT 2026 subject coefficients.
Name the city where you want to take the NMT. The test is held in Ukraine and abroad — in 31 countries. If you are abroad, choose your location carefully: the number of places is limited and in some locations they run out fast.
Remember: you can change your fourth subject, your test city and the language of the test until 7 April 2026. After that date changes are impossible.
Work out your competitive score with the NMT calculator and see how the fourth subject affects the result.
Once the form is filled in, you have to upload scans of your documents to your account. This is the step where problems arise most often.
According to the UCEQA webinar of 4 March 2026, the most common reason for a document being rejected is an illegible or cropped scan of a school certificate. The regional centre will not guess what is written there — it simply sends it back for correction.
Advice: use a scanner rather than a phone photo. If you have no scanner, take the photo in even light, without shadows, on a flat surface.
Once all the details are filled in and the documents uploaded, you press “Submit documents for processing”. From there the regional assessment centre takes over.
If the documents come back for correction, do not panic. Fix the errors, upload new scans and resubmit. The main thing is to make it before 2 April.
Do not forget to check your account. To repeat: the personal account is the only channel of communication. The UCEQA does not send text messages or emails.
You can amend your registration details until 7 April 2026. After that date no changes are possible, according to the UCEQA.
If you are unsure about your fourth subject, it is better to work out the specialties that interest you first and look at their coefficients.
Find your specialty and check the coefficients — the competitive offer search.
In 2025 more than 4,500 NMT registrations were rejected because of uncorrected shortcomings in the documents (UCEQA). Every year thousands of applicants make the same mistakes — and lose their chance to sit the exam.
A photo of your school certificate taken on your knee on the metro — no. Cropped edges, shadows, blurry text — all of these are grounds for sending it back. Make a proper scan or take a photo in good light.
Your full name has to match your passport letter for letter. If your passport has “Ґ” and you wrote “Г”, it can be sent back.
The testportal.gov.ua server runs under load in the final days of registration. Pages load slowly and errors sometimes pop up. Do not take the risk — register in the first two weeks.
People create an account and forget the password. Recovery takes time. Write down your login and password straight away.
People choose “to keep a friend company” or “whichever is easier” instead of checking the coefficients of the specialties they need. One wrong choice can cost dozens of points in the competitive ranking.

Choosing your fourth subject is not a question of “which is easier to pass”. It is a question of “where will I get the highest competitive score for my specialties”. Two applicants with identical NMT scores can differ by 20+ competitive score points — purely because of a different fourth subject.
Save this table — it has all the deadlines you need to know.
Additional registration (11–16 May) is only available to those with a valid reason: residents of the temporarily occupied territories or of the combat zone, and those who sat exams abroad.
The NMT 2026 consists of two blocks of 2 hours with a 20-minute break between them. The testing is computer-based — you sit it on a computer at a dedicated centre.
Since 2022 a rule has applied without exception: during an air raid alert the test stops and participants go to a shelter. Once the all-clear sounds, the test continues. The time you have to answer is preserved.
No, the main registration closes on 2 April 2026. There is an additional registration on 11–16 May, but only for those with valid reasons: residents of the occupied territories or the active combat zone, and those who sat their final exams abroad. For everyone else the deadline is hard.
Your passport or ID card, your tax number and an education document (school certificate or diploma). If you need special testing conditions, a medical certificate as well. Diia users can have their tax number filled in automatically.
Yes, but only until 7 April 2026. After that date changes are impossible. If you are unsure of your choice, for the specialties that interest you before making a final decision.
The NMT is held in 31 countries outside Ukraine. You choose where you will sit it during registration. Note: the number of places at some locations abroad is limited, so register as early as you can.
The invitation pass with the date, time and address of the test appears in your personal account at testportal.gov.ua by 10 May 2026. There will be no text messages or emails — check your account.
