The additional NMT 2026 session: who it is for, dates and signup.
Not every applicant can take the NMT during the main session. Some are on occupied territory, some are in an active combat zone, and some are finishing school abroad. The additional NMT session exists for exactly those cases — a separate testing period in July with the same format.
According to the UCEQA, thousands of participants who had no way of taking the test in the main period used the additional session in 2025 (UCEQA, 2025). This year the additional session takes place on 17–24 July 2026, with registration from 11 to 16 May.
TL;DR: The additional NMT 2026 session runs on 17–24 July. Registration is 11–16 May at testportal.gov.ua. Residents of the occupied territories and the combat zone, and those who sat their final exams abroad, are eligible. The format is identical to the main session: 4 subjects, 2 blocks. Results by 29 July (UCEQA, 2026).
The additional session is a separate NMT testing period for participants who, for objective reasons, could not register for or take the test during the main session (20 May – 25 June). Per the UCEQA webinar of 4 March 2026, the format stays identical: the same 4 subjects, 2 blocks of 120 minutes, computer-based testing.
It is not a “retake” and not a “second attempt”. You cannot take both the main and the additional session — you have to choose one. The results of the additional session carry exactly the same legal weight for admission as the results of the main one.

Not everyone is eligible for the additional session — only certain categories of applicants. The list is approved by a Ministry of Education and Science order and set out in detail in the UCEQA webinar of 4 March 2026 (, 2026). Every category requires documentary proof.

Per the UCEQA webinar of 4 March 2026, the additional registration opens on 11 May — that is just 6 days to submit an application (UCEQA, 2026). Compared with the main registration (almost a month), that is considerably less time.
Note: the results are promised within five days of the end of the session. That gives you time to submit your admission documents within the 2026 admission campaign.

Registration for the additional session goes through the same portal, testportal.gov.ua, and follows the same procedure as for the main one. In 2025 more than 4,500 registrations for the main session were rejected because of errors in the documents (UCEQA, 2025). Do not let that happen to you.

The additional NMT 2026 session abroad takes place in 22 cities across 11 countries, per the UCEQA webinar of 4 March 2026 (UCEQA, 2026). That is fewer than for the main session (30 countries), but it covers the main destinations of emigration.
The testing format abroad is completely identical to the Ukrainian one: computer-based testing, the same tasks, the same time. Testing takes place at embassies, consulates or partner educational institutions.
